Certification Limitations — Documents that may not be copy-certified
- Vital records issued by Georgia or another government (birth, death, marriage, divorce certificates) — certified copies must be obtained from the issuing agency.
- Documents that are themselves copies — the original must be presented to the notary.
- Documents the notary has reason to believe are counterfeit or altered.
